Originally from Chile, Tomás has lived in New Zealand for over twelve years with his wife and their young daughter. Since joining Waterside Karori in 2024 he has worked to implement his vision and mission to help players fall in love with the game through our programmes, intense training and mindset, and introduce a little piece of South American flair to the experience.

MARTY RODWELL

Marty is our women's Central League team head coach and Director of Football in the Women's and Junior space. He has a background in coaching across clubs, schools and community programmes. Marty joins Waterside Karori in 2025 from Fencibles United in Auckland where he worked for several years developing pathways across the club.

This is Chris's third stint with Karori AFC, showcasing his longstanding commitment
to the club. His journey began coaching his son’s team in the junior programme,
progressing to coaching Swifts Academy youth teams. His coaching philosophy centres on fostering fun and creativity, unlocking player potential, and cultivating a love for the game.

Birhanu is our Director of Youth Football and player and assistant coach for our men's first team. He has played professionally overseas in Europe and the USA and more than ten years experience coaching across the junior, youth and senior space in New Zealand.
